Altitude Brewing Facebook About Range Stockists Contact Elevating Craft Beer A little About Us Altitude Brewing was born in 2013, high in New Zealand’s striking Southern Alps. Conceived over many years by a love of crafting fine ales he brewery finally came to life under the auspices of Queenstown-bred local, Eliott Menzies who had a desire to share his passions with the world. Inspired by the varied history, the wildlife, the snow and the peaks of Queenstown and the Southern Alps, he set out to craft something that not only tasted great, but captured the area’s essence. With varieties like the Goldpanner’s Profit and the Mischievous Kea, Altitude Brewing stays true to who they are. This is echoed by their exclusive use of kiwi ingredients, as well as giving back to local Queenstown charities. Whether it's the IPA or the Hefeweizen, you'll get an honest, flavourful, real beer that’s to be shared and appreciated; whether that’s at your local, at your friend’s place or with silver service. The RANGE ALSO AVAILABLE ON TAP The POSTURING PROFESSIONAL When it came to settling on our Pale Ale recipe, the trendy thing to do at the time was to pack them full of imported or exciting new ‘fruity hop’ varieties. We tend not to be swayed by fashions down here in Otago, so we took a step back and let the strength of traditional Kiwi brewing do its thing. A single infusion mash, and only a very few specialty malts, make this beer pretty simple to make; but we reckon simple’s best. It’s fermented with an American ale yeast at a slightly warmer temperature than our other beers, to bring out the hop flavours and esters. The idea is that you get the flavour of NZ’s traditional hop varietals with a burst of youthful vigour. Palate Dry, but a bit sticky giving awesome balance. Mild spicy finish. Cascade and Southern Cross Caramel, citrus and pine Pale, Pilsner, Crystals I.B.U E.B.C A.B.V ALSO AVAILABLE ON TAP The GOLDPANNERS PROFIT Lighter in alcohol yet still full of flavour, this NZ lager is named after the local legends that once toiled for years in the heat looking for gold. Built in a straightforward style but with obvious quality, this beer is appreciated by the hot and bothered as well as 5-star beer geeks. A blend of several malts that deliver a clean, yet flavourful, beer. After many trials, we discovered that using a tolerant ale yeast and fermenting with very cold temperatures could retain the clean and dry Lager style with the added benefit of greater aroma and flavour. Much more interesting than a standard Lager but still super refreshing. Palate Dry, clean bitterness finish with a malty edge. Southern Cross, Motueka Stonefruits, Apricot, Biscuit Lager, Crystal, Vienna, Acid I.B.U E.B.C A.B.V ALSO AVAILABLE ON TAP ALSO AVAILABLE ON TAP The MISCHIEVOUS KEA Named after the most intelligent bird in the world, our native Kea, this is a cheeky, vibrant and characterful beer; just like its namesake. The beer is a complex hybrid, mixing the New World hop-forward and the Old-English toasty and bitter IPA styles. A judiciously selected blend of four Kiwi hops keep it native. Six different malts and a closely monitored mash schedule give the beer its full and robust body which is needed to maintain balance with the hops. To keep the recipe safe we stashed our only copy in a summit register somewhere in the Southern Alps. Happy hunting! Palate Vibrant mouth filling hops. Sweet orange and mandarin leading to toasty malt and hop bitterness with a lingering sweetness. Pacific Jade, Pacifica, Motueka, Nelson Sauvin Tropical and floral with sweet citrus fruits Pale, Munich, several Crystals, Chocolate I.B.U E.B.C A.B.V The MOONLIGHT TRACK To create our first dark beer release, I headed back to my British brewing roots. Not just in terms of the style of the beer but also it’s point of difference. I’ve brewed this as a sweet stout, as the sweeter base works much better with the fresh roast coffee, dark chocolate and molasses favours. The addition of a small amount of peated malt gives a terrifically distinctive whisky nose. It works to balance the beer and adds to the complex aromatics and layers of favours that coat your palate for a lengthy and complex finish. This beer will reward ageing. Palate Dark chocolate and caramelised sugar with a hint of charcoal. New Zealand Goldings Malt Whisky, Molasses, Chicory, Chocolate Milk Pale, Brown, Munich, Peated, Crystal, Chocolate Wheat, Dehusked Carafa 3 I.B.U E.B.C A.B.V ALSO AVAILABLE ON TAP The PERSISTENT HIGH Inspired by a trip to the continent of great beer, I wanted to give something back to those that have perfected the art of brewing over the centuries. A Hefeweizen, is a traditional Bavarian wheat beer. Our take is true to its origins with large additions of strongly favoured malts such as Munich and Abbey. This mix stacks the beer with a distinct Euro favour and delivers that authentic frothy head. We then go a bit off-road by fermenting with a Belgian wheat yeast that balances the esters from the wheat with a bit of funk. The finished beer is un-fined and un-filtered, so shake it gently for your cloudy drinking pleasure. Palate Dry characterful malts, bit of fruit cake and a tingly finish. Pacific Jade, Pacifica, Motueka, Nelson Sauvin Banana, clove and the local bakery Wheat, Pilsner, Abbey, Munich I.B.U E.B.C A.B.V Where to FIND OUR BEER Queenstown Botswana Butchery Coalfire Barbecue Raeward Fresh Flame Ivy and Lolas Farellis Blue Kanu Kinloch lodge Graze La Rumbla Mt Rosa Winery Kinross Cottages Smiths Craft beer house The Boatshed café Skyline Gondola The World Bar Atlas Beer Cafe Bardeaux Barmuda The Exchange Public Kitchen Blue Duck Milford Fork and Tap Gantley's Restaurant Cavells The Winery Wanaka Cardrona Alpine Resort Kai Whaka Pai Urban Grind Amigos White House Restaurant Cromwell Super Liquor Cromwell Canterbury The Beer Library Pomeroy's Twisted Hop Volstead Trading Co The Oxford Craypot Cafe Kaikoura The Bealey Hotel Ohau lodge Mt Hutt ski field Nelson/Marlborough Bel Aire Tavern The Freehouse Deville The Styx Dodson Street Beer Garden Fiordland Milford Sound Lodge Redcliff Cafe La Toscana The Blue Duck Cafe Westland Lake Matheson Cafe Snakebite brewery Cook saddle saloon North Island The Beer Spot Lumsden Freehouse Flight 605 Hopscotch Brothers Beer Online Craft Beer Online Beer Cellar Supermarkets and Liquor Stores Queenstown Liquor King Super liquor Arrowtown Four Square New World FreshChoice Henry’s - Beer, Wine and Spirits Arrowtown Wine Store Betty’s Liquor Wanaka New World Fiordland Fresh Choice Te Anau CANTERBURY The beer library New world Stanmore Four Square Lake Tekapo Christchurch Fresh Choice Barrington New World - Ilam New World - St Martins New World - Halswell Freshchoice - Merivale Nelson New World FreshChoice - Richmond FreshChoice - Nelson Craft Beer Depot North Island Countdown Ponsonby New World - Thorndon New World - Porirua Super liquor Poenamo Get IN TOUCH WITH US For stockist information or if...
